Centro per lo sviluppo creativo “Danilo Dolci” is a non-profit organisation located in Palermo, born from the experience and work of Danilo Dolci, a social activist, sociologist, nonviolent activist and educator.
CSC Danilo Dolci activities are based around three main pillars of Danilo Dolci’s work: dialogue, nonviolent education and creative development. It promotes the Reciprocal Maieutic Approach, a popular dialectic methodology of research and self-analysis tested by Danilo Dolci starting from the 50s and by the present Centre for the Creative Development within the educational and sociological field nowadays. This approach promotes a sense of responsibility in the communities and individuals and can be defined as a “collective exploration process that considers individuals’ experience and intuition as a reference point” (Dolci, 1996).
CSC main objectives are:
- To support the development and experimentation of innovative educational and training approaches.
- To stimulate research processes directed to social changes and community development.
- To promote active citizenship and participative democracy.
CSC works with young people and adults and has successfully operated for more than 25 years mainly on the educational sector in collaboration with schools, universities, institutions, associations and social groups both at local and at international level.
CSC strongly believe in the empowerment of people through a bottom-up approach aimed at unlashing their own potential, thus contributing – each one according to their talents and potential – to the community development.
